From Play to Film

Standard

Carnage (2011) is a film by Roman Polanski about two couples that get together to talk about their sons fighting. The couples are played by Kate Winslet & Christoph Waltz and Jodie Foster & John C. Reilly. While talking about their sons, each couple starts to fall apart until they can’t take it anymore. This film is adapted from the play God of Carnage but I have to say that not much changed. The whole thing takes place at the one couples apartment and although the other couple tries to leave multiple times, they get roped back in to more craziness. It is very dialogue based so the movie lasted just a little over an hour but at times it felt like a longer movie. All these characters are completely crazy (although they seem normal at first) just like normal people. They have normal problems that seem to blow completely out of proportion. The cast was genius–something that I didn’t think was possible after seeing James Gandolfini, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis and Marcia Gay Harden on Broadway. Plus I LOVE Kate Winslet! Favorite actress ever!!
